Racing Beat offers a select line of products for the Protege sedan and Protege 5 models. Since our experience has been limited to the 2000 and later applications, we will confine our product development to these models.

Many of the performance and appearance parts that were included on the Protege MP3 and Mazdaspeed versions are available only through Mazda's dealership network. Some of these components are not suitable for use on a non-MP3/Mazdaspeed Protege unless other parts are changed or modified.

Protege MP3 and Mazdaspeed models - Per Mazda's request, only a rear muffler section was designed for the Protege MP3/Mazdaspeed projects and incorporated an OEM style flange to allow fitment with the stock connecting pipe. The muffler outlet was configured to allow the tip to be correctly positioned in the rear bumper of the MP3/Mazdaspeed bumper. This configuration will not allow the tip to position correctly if the MP3/Mazdaspeed muffler is installed on a non-MP3/Mazdaspeed Protege. (The MP3/Mazdaspeed muffler will not fit correctly on the Protege 5).

Racing Beat now offers Power Slot Brake Rotors for Miata applications. The exclusive Vac-U-Slot design sheds heat and gases faster, while maintaining a clean pad surface, significantly reducing fade that can occur under heavy braking.

Compliment the braking performance of your Power Slot Rotors (or stock rotors) with a set of hawk HPS brake pads.

HPS pads are a "streetable" pad and offer low dust, long pad and rotor life, and are virtually noise free. Check out a set of Front or Rear pads for your application.

Racing Beat designed and supplied the lowering springs that were used on Protege MP3 prototype that was delivered to Mazda. The springs that are equipped on the production run of the Protege MP3 were manufactured by a Mazda OEM supplier.

The Racing Beat springs that we offer have been manufactured to the same specs as the prototype springs on the Protege MP3. For more information see: Front Springs or Rear Springs.

Finally! Tokico has released two versions of aftermarket shocks for the Protege. Chose from either the standard HP model, or the fully adjustable ILLUMINA series. Combine these shocks with a set of Racing Beat springs and transform your car into a canyon-carving machine! Tokico has equipped these shocks with a heavy-duty endlink mounting flange, which allows for aftermarket sway bar upgrades.

Many of the suspension parts that were included on the Protege MP3/Mazdaspeed models cannot be easily installed on the non-MP3/Mazdaspeed models. When designing the suspension for these cars, it was decided that the endlink mounting flange on the side of the shock absorber would need to be reinforced to accommodate a larger diameter sway bar. The MP3/Mazdspeed shock supplied by Tokico features this reinforced endlink mounting flange. For this reason, the use of the MP3/Mazdspeed swaybars on non-Tokico equipped Protege models is not recommended, as damage to the stock shocks are possible. All exterior MP3/Mazdaspeed modifications were designed by the design team at Mazda USA. Selected body components that were made available on these cars are now available for selected Protege models.

MP3/Mazdaspeed Nose Kit - According to our contacts at Mazda R&D, the MP3/Mazdaspeed nose kit will fit onto the 2001 and later Protege Sedan and 5, BUT at considerable cost!

This nose kit needs to be painted to match your car and requires the installation of the following parts for correct fitment: driving lights, grille, bumper support, nose supports, splash guards, and undertray cover. The cost of these components (including paint) will push the cost of this conversion to well over $1000!

Aftermarket Turbo Kits

Although Mazda offered a turbo on the Mazdaspeed Protege, an OEM "kit" is very difficult to obtain from your Mazda dealer. It is our understanding that these units are not offered as a stand-alone Mazda "kits" and individual components can be only be obtained through the Mazda Competition Parts Department.
Aftermarket kits are limited, but available. The only "kit" that we are aware of is currently being offered by Bell Engineering. Contact them for more Information.
