During a clean up of the Racing Beat shop area we uncovered a collection of original racing posters from the 1978 Bonneville Land Speed Record attempt. These posters have been stored in a flat box and have never been folded or rolled. (These posters are NOT a reproduction.) Click here to see a larger version of this poster. As an added bonus, Don Sherman, noted automotive journalist and race car driver, has personally autographed all remaining copies of these posters!
These one-of-a-kind posters have been out of circulation for many years and can be extremely difficult to find? particularly in this condition! After setting a land speed record on an earlier attempt with the Car & Driver RX-3 project, Racing Beat returned to Bonneville in 1978 with a purpose-built RX-7. A successful two-run average of over 183 MPH set a land speed record that still stands today! This poster was issued by Japanese spark plug manufacturer NGK to commemorate this successful project.
