Silicone Water Hose Kit
1999-2005 Miata NB - Except Mazdaspeed Turbo

A water hose set isn’t typically an item that you wake up on a Saturday morning and decide to replace. Usually you’ll undertake this replacement if a hose has failed, you’re replacing a failed radiator or thermostat, or you’ve been eyeing one of your old, original hoses with suspicion. You can either replace your hoses with a set of generic OE replacement hoses from the local auto store or upgrade to set of highly durable and attractive silicone aftermarket hoses.

Our Racing Beat radiator hose set for the 1999-2005 Miata NB (except MazdaSpeed) is specifically made for Racing Beat and features 4-ply silicone construction versus competitors featuring 3-ply design. Based on the Mazda OE hose set, our hose kit is a direct replacement for the stock hoses and will likely be the last set of hoses you’ll ever need to buy. The kit includes the two (2) required hoses and clamps: Upper Hose (radiator-to-thermostat housing), Lower Hose.

Hose Clamps
We’ve selected a shielded-style hose clamp for use with our Miata silicone hoses to prevent damage to the hoses during tightening and adjustment. Standard worm-gear hose clamps that do not feature an inside shield will allow the worm-gear to chew into the silicone material as the clamp is being tightened. The shielded version creates a buffer between the worm-gear and the hose, offering a layer of protection for the surface of the hose.

We had the option of selecting a broad range of colors for our hose set: black, red, yellow, etc.. but decided to select a color that fit within the Racing Beat color scheme, offered an attractive under hood appearance, and wasn’t too overwhelming and bright. Printed with the Racing Beat name and logo on each hose end and finished with the corresponding Mazda-designated application number.

Coolant Replacement
To drain the coolant from the system remove the radiator cap and loosen the drain plug on the bottom of the radiator – collect the coolant in an appropriate container. After replacing the hoses, fill the radiator with the proper amount of coolant mix (6.0 liters – stock radiator), and then run the engine with the cap removed until the upper radiator hose is hot. (This indicates that the thermostat has opened and coolant is flowing from the engine back into the radiator.) With the engine idling, add coolant to the radiator until the level stabilizes at the bottom of the filler neck.  Install the cap.
