Our Racing Beat Power Pulse Dual Outlet Exhaust project was originally started after a request by Mazda USA for a prototype system for use on one of their project Miatas. Reaction was very positive and we soon included this exhaust system into our Racing Beat line-up.
The Racing Beat Dual Outlet Muffler for the 1999-2003 Miata (automatic transmission) is produced entirely from 304-stainless steel for superior durability and appearance. The inlet tube features a thick, cast-stainless steel flange which provides excellent gas sealing capabilities. Each stainless steel outlet tube feeds into a double-walled tip for an aggressive and sporty look. The two 3.5" OD exhaust tips are manufactured using highly polished 304-stainless steel and are slightly oval in shape to provide a perfect balance and proportional fit with the Miata's rear bumper. Each tip features a etched Racing Beat logo to add the finishing touch! Like all Racing Beat exhaust components, this system has been tuned to provide the Miata with a deep, throaty exhaust note - without any harsh, buzzy or "raspy" sounds.
Each Power Pulse system comes complete with fully detailed instructions and mounting hardware, and can be easily installed by the weekend mechanic using only simple hand tools. A positioning template is provided to assist with cutting of the new opening for the additional outlet tip. The new opening can be cut through the soft urethane bumper material using only a small utility knife. A small sanding block is then required to smooth out the opening to the final shape.
This exhaust is "cat-back" emissions legal and meets California sound level requirements.
Muffler Fitment on Auto Transmission Models
Due to discrepancies with regards to the mounting flange bolt-hole spacing on automatic transmission cars, we are suggesting that you measure the flange bolt-hole spacing on your current muffler prior to placing an order. (Why Mazda decided to use a different flange on some AT versions has left us baffled! Sorry for the extra work required to determine the correct exhaust for your application, but we'd rather have you order the correct muffler and avoid the hassles and expense of returning the wrong part.) If you have any questions about these measurements, please give us a call for assistance.
We request that you measure the flange bolt-hole spacing on your car to confirm that you will be obtaining the correct muffler for your application. The measurement of concern is the spacing of the bolt holes on the flange between the muffler and the connecting pipe section.
Note your measurements as follows:
Automatic Transmission = 3.46" (88mm) center-to-center
Manual Transmission = 4.33" (110mm) center-to-center
- If your measurements match the specifications for "Auto Transmission", then you have selected the correct product listing.
- If your measurements match the specifications for "Manual Transmission", then you will order Power Pulse Dual Exhaust.
