Photo Details
Driven to a Bonneville Land Speed record by Car and Driver's Don Sherman, this RX-7 shattered the existing record by over 37 MPH. This photo was taken on the salt flats after the car had set a new record of 238.442 MPH, besting the old record of 201.241 MPH by a wide margin. This is currently owned by Mazda and was returned to Racing Beat in 2006 for a engine overhaul visit. This car has been shown over the years at the Sevenstock events and various car shows and is now currently housed with Mazda's Heritige Collection at their R&D Headquarters in Irvine, CA.
